Types Of Dryer Vents

Most people are familiar with one or two kinds of dryer vents, but there are actually 4 different types:

  1. Flexible pipe that’s made of vinyl and wire. Extremely flexible, but mostly used for lower temperature venting.
  2. Flexible, aluminum foil wrapped with curled metal wire on the inside to keep the shape. Most commonly used in the households due to it’s flexibility and fair durability.
  3. Limited flexibility, increased durability. Made with thicker aluminum. Used for dryers that don’t need a very flexible vent, but some bend is necessary.
  4. Sheet metal vent. Very limited movement, built to last with little to no friction on the inside, therefore limiting lint accumulation.

Eric B. Virginia Beach, VA

The dryer is on the 2nd floor and the dryer duct is vented through the attic so he said it would be best to clean it from the attic. He brought in his equipment which was connected to his truck. We could hear all of the stuff that was being sucked out as it went through the tubes. He reconnected the duct to the vent in the roof and made it more secure than it was originally. He recommended running the dryer for 2 cycles without wet clothes to dry out the line which I did. My dryer works 100% better. Everything was left neat and clean. I definitely will call him again and highly recommend him! And it was great that he came on a Saturday!
